Mom's Chili Con Carne

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce
3/4 cup water
28 oz. can stewed tomatoes, cut up
10 3/4 oz. can condensed tomato soup
6 oz. can tomato paste
4 oz. can chopped green chiles, undrained
15 1/2 oz. can red beans, undrained

In a medium skillet, brown ground beef with onion; drain. In large saucepan, combine ground beef mixture and remaining
ingredients except beans. Cover; simmer over low heat for 2 hours. Add beans; heat thoroughly.

5 - 1/2 cup servings

Tip: For use in slow cooker, proceed as above and cook on low heat for 5 to 6 hours. Add beans, heat thoroughly.

For a chili buffet, serve with sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped green onions, and tortilla chips.
