Strawberry Sauce

1 cup strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup currant jelly
1/3 cup water
4 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Combine berries, sugar, jelly and water; bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 2 T water and stir into hot mixture. Cook one minute more and add lemon juice. Put hot mixture through a sieve. Chill.  Serve over meringue, ice cream, and fruit dessert.
