Ingredients: 1 16 oz. stale French bread
(6-8 cups) 5
bananas, halved and sliced 1 cup cream
3
eggs (add before butter) 2 cups milk
2
Tbls. Vanilla 1 cup banana liquor
1 cup chopped walnuts 2 cups sugar
1
Tbls. cinnamon 8 Tbls. Butter, melted
Combine all ingredients;
mixture should be very moist but not soupy.
Pour into buttered 9 X 12 or larger baking dish.
Sprinkle the top with brown sugar. Place
into NON-PREHEATED oven. Bake
at 350°
for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, until top is golden brown.
Serve with either sauce below. To
make different flavors of bread pudding use 1/3 flavor to 2/3 milk or cream. Whiskey Sauce
Ingredients: ½ cup butter 1 ½ cup powdered sugar 2 egg yolks ½ cup rum (may want to use
slightly less) Cream butter and sugar over
medium heat until all butter is absorbed. Remove
from heat and temper yolks. Then
blend in remaining egg yolk. Pour
in bourbon gradually to your own taste, stirring constantly.
Sauce will thicken as it cools. Serve
warm over bread pudding. Hard Sauce
Ingredients: 7/8 cup sugar
1 egg yolk 2 Tbls. Cornstarch
2 Tbls. Butter, melted 2 cups hot milk
1
Tbls. Vanilla Combine sugar and
cornstarch in saucepan over low heat. Gradually
add hot milk. Beat egg yolk with
small amount of hot milk. Add
mixture to milk. Add melted butter
and Vanilla. Stir mixture over low heat 15 minutes or until thick.
