2 loaves French bread, cut in 1 1/2 inch slices to get a total of 20 pieces
12 eggs
4 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Grease a 9 X 13 pan. Arrange bread in pan. In a bowl, beat eggs with other ingredients listed above and pour over bread.
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tbls. corn syrup
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Spread over tops of egg-soaked bread. Sprinkle nuts on top.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
Serve with fruit sauce or maple syrup.
Variation:
Make a pocket in each slice of bread. Chop up a can of pie filling (any flavor) and spoon into sliced within each piece of
bread. Then pour the egg mixture over the bread. Follow with rest of instructions.
